Meet the Crew: Sarah

Sarah is spending her summer with Beyond Boundaries, bringing her enthusiasm for the outdoors and a passion for creating opportunities for everyone to discover adventure. As a Virginia Tech student studying neuroscience and psychology, she's excited to both support our programs behind the scenes and take part in the activities that bring our mission to life. Take a few minutes to get to know Sarah and what inspired her to contribute to our impact!

How old are you?

I’m currently 19 years old but will turn 20 in a month!

Where do you attend college or school?

I currently attend Virginia Tech, where I study neuroscience and psychology.

Where did you grow up?

Falls Church, Virginia.

Favorite outdoor activity?

In the colder months, my favorite is skiing. I love hiking, skateboarding, and swimming when it is warmer.

What's your guilty pleasure?

Eating sweets. I definitely have a big sweet tooth!

What is your favorite type of BB trip?

Kayaking or SUPing because I love being out on the water, and the James is so beautiful.

Favorite band?

I listen to a little bit of everything, but some of my favorites are Tame Impala, Flipturn, and Frank Ocean.

Favorite food?

Seafood! I love all kinds.

How did you get involved with BB?

I feel so lucky to have been hired as a summer intern. What drew me in was how unique BB is and all of the amazing work the organization does to make outdoor adventure more accessible.


Why does BB's mission resonate with you?

I believe everyone should have the opportunity to experience adventure, connection, and the outdoors. I’ve spent a lot of my life outside, and it has shaped me in more ways than I can count. I love that I now have the opportunity to share that passion and help make those experiences possible for others.


Fun fact about yourself?

I’ve surfed in four different countries!
