Finding Adventure with Andrew
Andrew is spending his summer with Beyond Boundaries as an intern, where he's gaining hands-on experience in nonprofit management while supporting our mission of making outdoor adventure accessible to all. A business marketing and management student at Radford University, Andrew has spent much of his life exploring the outdoors and is excited to help others discover the confidence, connection, and joy that adventure can bring. Where do you attend college or school?
I'm entering my senior year at Radford University, where I'm studying business marketing and management.
Where did you grow up?
I was born in Charlottesville, Virginia but spent most of my life in Williamsburg.
Favorite outdoor activity?
Lately, I've really been into rock climbing, although I have the most experience with backpacking. During the colder months, you can usually find me at Snowshoe skiing or snowboarding.
What is your favorite type of Beyond Boundaries trip?
Kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding have been my favorites so far. Being out on the water and soaking up the sunshine make it feel like I'm not even at work.
Favorite food?
I have a huge sweet tooth, and nothing beats a fresh donut for breakfast.
How did you get involved with Beyond Boundaries?
I was fortunate to meet Angie at a career fair, and Beyond Boundaries' mission of providing accessible adventures for underserved communities immediately resonated with me. Together, we created an internship that allows me to further my studies by learning more about non-profit management and marketing, while empowering people to experience the joy of outdoor adventure.
Why does Beyond Boundaries' mission resonate with you?
My whole life has revolved around adventures in the outdoors, and I've seen firsthand how those experiences have shaped me and helped me grow into the person I am today. I believe that giving people access to outdoor adventure can help them discover strengths within themselves that they may never have realized otherwise.

At Radford, I work for the Outdoor Programs department, where I manage the indoor rock wall and lead students on outdoor adventures.
