Explore the Mighty James River
Thanks to the generous estate of Ted Abbott and Sailing4All, we are lucky enough to have our very own pontoon boat. Join us for a river cruise for a chance to see a Heron, Bald Eagle, and if this seasons right maybe even a great Atlantic Sturgeon.
Pontooning with Beyond Boundaries
At Beyond Boundaries, we love getting our groups out on the water! Our pontooning program offers participants the opportunity to enjoy time on the James River in a comfortable and accessible setting. We meet at Osborne Landing, where we utilize an accessible dock that helps make loading and boarding the boat easier for participants with varying mobility needs.
The Beyond Boundaries pontoon boat can seat a maximum of 10 passengers total, including staff and support, but based on feedback from previous groups, it most comfortably accommodates 8 participants. Please use the graphic below for reference.
Accessibility & Capacity
Our pontoon boat can accommodate participants who use both manual and power wheelchairs. Because the boat has an overall weight capacity, the number of participants we can accommodate during each trip will vary depending on the number and type of wheelchairs your group brings.
For planning purposes:
1 manual wheelchair = approximately 1.5 passenger spots
1 power wheelchair = approximately 2 passenger spots
Program Length & Group Options
Beyond Boundaries pontoon trips are typically 2 hours long. Because there is limited seating onboard, we have the option to segment the session into two, back-to-back 1-hour sessions. This will allow us to accommodate more participants by taking separate groups out on the water!
